Young Adult Fiction – The Hunger Games

Hunger Games BookThe Hunger Games trilogy audio-book download is a dystopian series that talks about the struggle between the Capitol and the rest of the districts in Panem. In the first book, the existing system is that residents aged 12 to 18 years old are automatically eligible for the “reaping,” where one girl and one boy are chosen from each of the 12 districts and brought to an arena for the so-called Hunger Games. The mechanics of the game are simple: kill the other tributes, and the last one standing shall be known as the winner and will be showered with numerous gifts and fame from the Capitol.

The first book ended with Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark (the tributes from District 12) as the winners of the 74th Hunger Games. This is a special case as it’s the first time that two winners are declared, but the Capitol made an exception for them as they have become known as the “star-crossed lovers.” The second book, Catching Fire, deals with the 75th games and how President Snow manipulated events to force Peeta and Katniss into the arena again. Most of the tributes (who are victors from past games) chose to rebel against the existing government. It has also been discovered that the 13th district is not eliminated – in fact, they have been living underground and waiting for the right moment and conditions to attack the Capitol.

In the third book, Mockingjay, Peeta is captured by President Snow from the Games while the rebels in District 13 had taken Katniss. The war between the system begins, which eventually ended with the defeat of Snow and the reconciliation between the star-crossed lovers.

The trilogy has become famous worldwide, specifically in digital formats like Kindle. It has been out in the cinemas, and the franchise is preparing for the release of the third movie – Mockingjay – which has been divided into two parts.
